NJPF Named Coordinator of the 2008 New Jersey Student/Parent Mock Election

The New Jersey Press Foundation has been selected as the coordinator of the 2008 Student/Parent Mock Election for schoolchildren throughout New Jersey.

All New Jersey newspapers are urged to help NJPF promote the Mock Election, which will occur in schools on or before October 30.

The main request is for newspapers to print a house ad that contains an enrollment form. The a PDF of the ad is available on the New Jersey Mock Election Web site: www.njmockelection.org .

For more information about the Mock Election, send an E-mail to NJPF Program Director Tom Engleman or retrieve the enrollment form from the Mock Election Web site.


Asbury Park Press, Greater Media Carriers Named Isaac Roth Scholarship Recipients

Keith Obzut of East Brunswick and Kathryn Stoppiello of Brick have been offered $2,000 college scholarships in the New Jersey Press Foundation's 2008 Isaac Roth Newspaper Carrier Scholarship Program.


Verona Student Named N.J High School Journalist of the Year

Andrea Krushefski, a senior at Verona High School, was named the 2008 High School Journalist of the Year and received the Bernard Kilgore Memorial Scholarship from the New Jersey Press Foundation.


Burlington County Journalism Teacher Is NJPF's Summer Intern

Charles Zimmerman, the journalism teacher at Pemberton Township High School in Burlington County, is the New Jersey Press Foundation’s high school teacher intern for 2008 through the Teachers at Newspapers Program.


Cattafi Awarded 2008 Drukker Scholarship

Kristie Cattafi, a sophomore journalism student at Montclair State University, was selected by NJPF as recipient of the 2008 Richard Drukker Memorial Scholarship.

Seven college student journalists from New Jersey have been placed as summer interns for the state's newspapers, as part of NJPF's 2008 Internship/Scholarship Program. They are listed on an inside page of this Web site.

The next meeting of the foundation's Newspaper in Education & Youth Readership Committee will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 4 at the NJPF office in West Trenton.
